Art and Culture on the Central Coast: Galleries, Music and Creative Communities
The Central Coast has a growing arts community that has benefited from the arrival of Sydney creatives relocating to the region. The Gosford Regional Gallery on Mann Street is the main public gallery, with a collecting program focused on Australian art with a regional emphasis. The Laycock Street Community Theatre in Gosford runs a community and professional theatre program. The Art House Wyong at TAFE Wyong is a performing arts centre running a regular program including music, theatre and comedy. Several artist-run studios and galleries have established themselves in the heritage buildings of East Gosford and Gosford's emerging creative precinct. The Central Coast Conservatorium provides live music education and community concerts. The Troubadour Music Centre at Gosford runs folk and acoustic music events. Ettalong Beach's art galleries and studios along Memorial Avenue are worth exploring. The region's surf and coastal culture has produced a strong tradition of surf art and photography shown in galleries across the beach townships.
