Avoca Beach: The Central Coast's Boutique Beach Suburb

Avoca Beach, about 10 kilometres from Gosford along the Central Coast Highway, has a character distinct from the more tourist-oriented central coast beach towns. The beach is a moderately exposed surf beach flanked by the Avoca Lake estuary on its southern end, creating a calm swimming area popular with families and young children during lake-mouth openings. The village strip behind the beach has a modest selection of cafes, the Avoca Beach Picture Theatre (one of the oldest continuously operating outdoor cinemas in Australia), and a small shopping precinct. Avoca is popular with Sydney weekenders and has seen strong property interest from those seeking a quieter alternative to Terrigal and Pearl Beach. Parking can be limited on summer weekends.
