Why Central Coast needs local news
The Central Coast is one of the largest and fastest-growing regions in New South Wales — yet for years it has been treated as a fringe of Sydney or Newcastle by metro outlets. Decisions about planning, transport, hospitals and schools deserve scrutiny on the Coast’s own terms.
Strong local journalism keeps councils, developers and agencies accountable. It surfaces issues — coastal erosion, housing affordability, health service gaps — that affect every household, but rarely make state-wide headlines.
Local news also celebrates the Coast: the surf clubs, the small businesses, the school carnivals, the volunteers. Without a dedicated daily record, these stories simply disappear.
Our promise is to show up every day, attribute every claim, and give you a publication you can rely on.
