Central Coast guide to accessing free or low-cost wellness services here
Residents across Gosford, Terrigal and surrounding areas can reach several no-cost or low-fee programs that support physical activity and mental wellbeing through council and community channels.
How we reported this

Central Coast Council added extra free group walks along the Gosford to Terrigal beach path from 1 July, with sessions now running three mornings a week at 7am starting from the Gosford waterfront.
Rising household costs have pushed more locals to seek activities that do not require gym memberships or paid classes, and council records show bookings for its low-cost programs jumped 18 percent in the past six months.
Outdoor routes and clubs
Walkers and cyclists can use the marked 12-kilometre Gosford to Terrigal beach path at any time without charge, while Bouddi National Park offers free trail access for hikes that start from the Maitland Bay car park off The Scenic Road. Terrigal Surf Life Saving Club runs a volunteer patrolling roster that includes fitness drills on weekends, and Avoca Beach Surf Life Saving Club holds similar unpaid training sessions on Sunday mornings at the Main Beach.
Tuggerah Lake cycle paths provide another zero-cost option, with the flat 8-kilometre loop around the western foreshore popular for early-morning rides from the Chittaway Point boat ramp.
Indoor and group sessions
The council’s community centres at Erina and Wyong list free yoga and tai chi classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, limited to 25 places per session and open to anyone who registers by phone the day before. A $5 donation is suggested but not required for the monthly mindfulness talks held at the Gosford Library on the second Wednesday of each month.
Council data from the 2025-26 financial year recorded 4,200 attendances at these free and low-cost sessions, with the largest numbers at the beach-path walks and lake cycle events. Staff advise residents to check the Central Coast Council website or call 1300 463 954 for current timetables, and anyone with an existing medical condition should speak to their local GP before starting new activity.
