Routes tied to surf clubs and national park trails
The Avoca Beach Surf Lifesaving Club will host its annual 5-kilometre fun run on July 22, beginning at 7:30am from the club house on Avoca Drive and finishing near the Terrigal Surf Lifesaving Club. Participants can also join a separate charity walk on July 29 that starts at the Bouddi National Park entrance off The Scenic Road in Killcare and covers 8 kilometres of marked trails ending at Maitland Bay.
Organisers from the Tuggerah Lake Cycle Group have added a weekly Saturday morning group ride that departs from the foreshore park at Chittaway Point at 6:45am, covering 20 kilometres around the lake with stops at the Wyong River bridge.
Entry costs and past turnout figures
Registration for the July 15 charity walk costs $18 for adults and $10 for children, with all proceeds directed to the Central Coast branch of the Heart Foundation. Last year's equivalent walk drew 620 participants according to council records, and organisers expect similar numbers this time. The Avoca run carries a $22 entry fee that includes a timing chip and post-event recovery drink at the Terrigal venue.
Interested residents can sign up through the Central Coast Council website or in person at the Avoca Beach Surf Lifesaving Club office on Ocean Street before July 12. Those joining the Bouddi walk should bring their own water and wear sturdy shoes, as the track includes some steep sections near the coastline.
