Central Coast Strikers FC also runs programs at Kariong and Woy Woy, but this was the first time in two years it had beaten a side occupying top spot on the league table.

The win was built on a team defensive structure that forced six offside calls against the Eagles, the highest number the Strikers have recorded in a single match this campaign.
Head coach Mark Devereux told the club's website after the game that the preparation during the week, including video sessions focused on the Eagles' high defensive line, paid off.
The Strikers travel to Wollongong next Saturday to face Port Kembla FC, then host bottom-side Manly United on August 2. A pair of wins could lift them as high as second, pending other results. Their next home match is on the first weekend of August at Gosford Stadium.
