Central Coast Council Advances Sports Infrastructure Upgrades Across Key Venues

The Central Coast Council approved a $12.5 million allocation on July 10 for upgrades to two major sports venues, with work scheduled to begin in September at the Central Coast Regional Sporting Complex on Mann Street in Gosford.
Interest in local sports has risen sharply since the 2026 World Cup quarterfinals, pushing more residents toward organized programs at existing grounds. The upgrades address wear on fields and limited seating that have restricted match schedules in recent seasons.
Targeted Sites and Programs
Work at the Gosford complex will replace the main pitch surface and add LED lighting along the eastern sideline. The Wyong Sports Park on Alison Road will receive new change rooms and a 300-seat grandstand extension. Both sites already host weekly training for the Central Coast Mariners youth academy and the Wyong Rugby League club’s under-18 squads.
These changes build on the council’s 2024 master plan that identified capacity shortfalls at 14 local grounds. The Gosford venue currently stages 180 matches per year across soccer and rugby codes, while Wyong fields 95 events annually.
Numbers Behind the Works
Project documents list a total cost of $12.5 million, with $7.8 million earmarked for Gosford and the remainder for Wyong. Construction is expected to finish by March 2027, adding 22 percent more usable field hours each week. Council records show junior registrations across the region reached 8,450 players last season, up 14 percent from 2024.
Bookings for the upgraded facilities open August 1 through the council’s online portal. Local clubs can submit applications for the 2027 winter season starting next month, with priority given to groups already using the sites.
