Central Coast Firms Seize Emerging Digital Openings as Online Platforms Expand Reach
Local operators in retail and services are locking in new revenue streams from targeted advertising and partnerships tied to the growth of online radio.
How we reported this

Central Coast companies have recorded a 22 percent lift in digital ad bookings since March this year, with several operators already shifting budgets away from traditional media to capture audiences on independent online stations.
The shift matters now because falling home prices across the region have freed up commercial space and prompted owners to seek lower-cost marketing channels that deliver measurable returns within weeks rather than months.
Operators on Mann Street and at Erina Fair report early gains
Two businesses illustrate the pattern. A Gosford café on Mann Street increased its weekly online-radio spots from three to nine in April and recorded a 14 percent rise in foot traffic by June. At Erina Fair, a fitness-equipment retailer signed a three-month sponsorship package with a Central Coast-based station and sold out its entry-level bike range two weeks ahead of schedule.
Both locations sit within the same 12-kilometre corridor that accounts for roughly 35 percent of the region’s small-business turnover, according to council data released last month.
Numbers that show the scale of the opening
Industry figures released 9 July list 48 active online radio services streaming local content, up from 31 in January 2025. Average listener hours per station reached 4,200 last quarter, with 61 percent of sessions originating inside the Central Coast postcode boundaries. Rates for a 30-second spot currently sit between $28 and $42, well below the $95 average charged by metropolitan FM outlets.
Businesses that book before the end of August can lock in those rates for the remainder of the financial year. Operators are advised to track unique promo codes aired during the first fortnight of any campaign and compare sales data against the same period last year before renewing.
